(Sacramento) - In many ways, California is the gold standard on environmental protection. But when it comes to oil spills, there is more work to be done. Assemblymember Monique Limón’s (D-Santa Barbara) bill (Assembly Bill 2864) would require the lead Natural Resources Trustee to collaborate with either the California Coastal Commission or the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission to perform a through damage assessment should there be an accidental spill along the coastline. “We must ensure that damages caused by oil spills are evaluated, recovered and restored to their fullest potential,” Assemblymember Limón says.
