Press Release: Limón Named Chair of Banking and Finance Committee
SACRAMENTO, CA – Assemblymember Monique Limón (D-Santa Barbara) was appointed Chair of the California State Assembly Committee on Banking and Finance by Speaker Anthony Rendon.
“The Banking and Finance Committee serves two purposes, to ensure that financial institutions are equipped with the laws and tools to make our state prosperous, and to make the American Dream a reality for everyone in our communities,” said Limón. “I am honored to serve as the Chair of Banking and Finance in the California Assembly. I want to thank Speaker Rendon for this appointment and his trust in my leadership. As only the second women in California history to serve in this role, I do not take lightly the responsibility that comes with this position.”
The primary jurisdictions of the Banking and Finance Committee are Financial Institutions, Real Property Finance, Consumer Finance and Corporate Securities Law.
Assemblymember Limón served as a member of the Banking and Finance Committee through 2017 before being named Chair. She is preceded as Committee Chair by Assemblymember Matt Dababneh, who resigned from office on December 31, 2017.
Monique Limón represents the 37th Assembly District which includes Santa Barbara, Ventura, Goleta, Carpinteria, Ojai, Santa Paula, Fillmore, Buellton, Solvang, Summerland, Isla Vista, Montecito and parts of Oxnard.
